Reality in TN

I came across this article published by the Tennessean tonight: I think it provides insight not only in what our economy is facing today, but what Tennessee as a state is facing. The article provides some figures saying that 1 in 5 are now enrolled in the program and these figures are a reflection of the job loss in the economy. A mom states that "she is eligible for $290 a month" and has to feed a family of 3, 2 of which are special needs children. That is $72.50 a week for 3 people, around $24 a person. The article also outlines that more retailers are accepting EBT now allowing those on food stamps to have more of a variety. I suggest reading this article because it is insightful and directly related to our challenge. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110926/NEWS21/309160099/Food-stamps-become-big-business-TN
